Femininity vs. Masculinity


Non-Traditional Femininity: Michonne of The Walking Dead fights skillfully alongside the men as one of the minorities (women).


Traditional Femininity: Arwen in the Lord of the Rings trilogy is the epitome of femininity: a princess.



Non-Traditional Femininity: Katniss of the Hunger Games exemplifies non-traditional femininity. She is very good at a sport in which masculinity is valued.



Traditional Femininity: The Stepford Wives were created to mimic what the perfect woman should be


Non-Traditional Femininity: Leia taking on a traditionally masculine role in the series as well as covering more of her skin
Traditional Femininity: Leia in her tight bikini, showing off a lot of skin demonstrates the ideal of femininity










Non-Traditional Masculinity: Dean screaming "like a girl" in Supernatural as he's hunting supernatural creatures



Traditional Masculinity: Master Chief of the Halo series exemplifies masculinity. He was turned into a super soldier during childhood, eventually emanating power and killing prowess.



Non-Traditional Masculinity: Peeta of the Hunger Games trilogy uses cunning and artifice in lieu of the more masculine traits of strength and power.


Traditional Masculinity: The epitome of masculinity, Superman. He possesses super strength and speed.


Non-Traditional Masculinity: The Riddler is slender as opposed to muscular. He uses wit and cunning rather than strength to oppose his foes.
